Daniel Schubert is a writer/Director based in Vancouver, Canada. He specializes in both narrative and documentary filmmaking. His latest work is The National Film Board of Canada documentary, MARTHA, a funny and touching portrait of Holocaust survivor, Martha Katz. The film received nationwide coverage on radio, television and in newspapers like The Globe and Mail, The Vancouver Sun, The Province, and Winnipeg Free Press, and Daniel was interviewed about the film on CBC, Global, and CTV. MARTHA recently received 4 Leo Award nominations including Best Documentary Short, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Musical Score. Since co-writing and directing his “calling card” narrative film, SEED MONEY, he has gone on to write, produce, and direct documentary series for broadcasters like National Geographic, CBC, UKTV, Smithsonian Channel, and History Television. Daniel attended The Capilano University School of Motion Picture Arts in Vancouver and The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles, where he learned the art of comedy writing and improvisation.
