Quebec
Elza Kephart is an award-winning filmmaker whose genre films blend dark, absurd humor with sharp social critique. Her latest feature, SLAXX, premiered at the Fantasia Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award for Best Canadian Feature, is rated 96% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, and became Shudder’s #3 Best Ranked Film of 2021. Her debut feature, GRAVEYARD ALIVE, won the Slamdance Kodak Award for Best Cinematography and played at over 20 film festivals. She is currently developing THE GREAT CANADA DAY MASSACRE with GPA Films, funded by SODEC in development, which continues her exploration of satire and horror as a tool for political change. She is a graduate of Emerson College (Boston), and the Canadian Film Center’s Director’s Lab.
