Director Jill Carter is Ontario-based, living in Toronto. Always creative, she studied Fashion Design before moving into Film and TV. Jill is a curious, open minded, collaborator, with a keen interest in travel. She is passionate about music, photography, literature, and art. Using the craft of visual storytelling, Jill is interested in uniting people of all ages through thoughtful universal experiences. Jill recently completed directing 2 eps. of SACRIFICE (BET+), a new legal drama starring Paula Patton, along with the first 2 eps. of the final season of THE BOLD TYPE (Freeform/Hulu). Her other credits include family drama HEARTLAND (2 eps./CBC), rom com AN ICEWINE CHRISTMAS (Lifetime) starring Roselyn Sanchez, rom com CHRISTMAS 9-5 (Lifetime) starring Tiya Sircar (THE GOOD PLACE), the pilot plus 3 episodes of the cop drama THE MURDERS (Sundance Channel) starring Jessica Lucas, a rom com SEASON FOR LOVE (Hallmark) starring Autumn Reeser, 2 episodes of the legal drama IN CONTEMPT (BET), comedy-drama PRIVATE EYES (Global), period drama MURDOCH MYSTERIES (3 eps./CBC-Acorn), and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (2 eps./CW). Jill’s shorts MOMENT, NINETY-ONE, and LITTLE LARRY have screened at festivals around the world. LITTLE LARY was nominated for Best Short Film at the DGC Awards. Jill started her career as a script supervisor on many tv series and features working with such Directors as David Hayter, Atom Egoyan, and Denis Villeneuve. She is an alum of the prestigious TIFF Studio, an incubator program run by the Toronto International Film Festival. Jill currently has a number of film and television projects in various stages of development and holds an O1 Visa, along with British and Canadian passports. She is a DGA and DGC Member.
