Renuka Jeyapalan

Renuka Jeyapalan is a Toronto-based writer/director, and graduate of the Canadian Film Centre’s Directors’ Lab. Her Genie-nominated short film BIG GIRL (2005) screened at the Berlinale, Tribeca Film Festival, and TIFF, where it was awarded Best Short Film. Her other short films include ARRANGED (2014), A BICYCLE LESSON (2016), and LIFE SUPPORT (2019), which premiered at TIFF. Her first feature film STAY THE NIGHT (2022) had its world premiere at SXSW.

Renuka has directed episodes of SORT OF, KIM’S CONVENIENCE, WORKIN MOMS, MURDOCH MYSTERIES, LAW & ORDER TORONTO: CRIMINAL INTENT, the Netflix original series’ NORTH OF NORTH and GINNY & GEORGIA as well as the Hulu series HOW TO DIE ALONE starring Natasha Rothwell. She also directed the pilots for Bell Media’s CHILDREN RUIN EVERYTHING and CBC’s SON OF A CRITCH.

Recently, she directed episodes of the Netflix limited series WAYWARD starring Mae Martin and Toni Collette.

Renuka has an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Toronto.
