Tate Young

Tate Young writes and directs sci-fi and genre features, digital series, dramatic short films, and documentaries.

Tate directed & picture edited the IPF/CANAL+ sci-fi digital series HAPHEAD, the sci-fi feature GHOSTS WITH SHIT JOBS, and docs like the super-viral HOW INK IS MADE. Recently, his short films HYPERNOVA, TIMEBOX and BONECRUSHER won multiple awards (including the DGC Short Film Award) and played dozens of international film festivals. Tate just wrapped writing and picture-editing the CTV / CRAVE series EVOLVING VEGAN with MENA MASSOUD.

A multidisciplinary creative, Tate was picture editor on the CSA-winning series 16X9 (GlobalTV) for several seasons, and directed doc series for Maclean’s, Sportsnet, CityTV and BRAVO. His documentary THE MUSIC OF MADNESS was released widely to VOD in 2021, followed by his half-hour doc CAPTURING CARBON in 2022. 

Tate grew up in Fort McMurray and other exquisite Alberta mining towns, and now lives in Toronto. He's currently focused on the development of both series and features.
