Winnifred Jong

Winnifred Jong is an award winning Toronto-based filmmaker and alumna of the Women In the Director’s Chair. Since being named one of Playback’s 5-to-Watch in 2018, she has directed multiple seasons of Prime Time Drama. In 2020, she received the Directors’ Guild of Canada Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement for her work on Hallmark’s MYSTERY 101: DEAD TALK. Known for her cinematic style and authentic storytelling, Winnifred created, wrote, and directed the comedic web series TOKENS. It went on to receive four Canadian Screen Award nominations (including Best Writing) and winning for Best Direction. In 2020, she was recognized with the Sandi Ross Award. She is currently working as producing-director on OWN’s upcoming series KINGS OF NAPA for WB and Harpo. Winnifred may have once snuck into the Cannes Film Festival through a side door, but she's determined to return by way of the Palais steps.
