Ali Liebert’s mother says she fell out of the womb tap dancing. She spent two decades on over 100 sets all over the world as a Canadian Emmy winning leading lady when she realized her favourite role was that of director. Liebert now brings her passion for performance to her career as a GLAAD Award and Director’s Guild of Canada Award nominated director, most recently directing for the third time in Europe for Hallmark Channel.
Liebert is recognized internationally for her contributions to the ascendancy of the gay narrative in the traditional rom-com, most notably for directing Hallmarks first queer led movie, THE HOLIDAY SITTER, starring Jonathan Bennett. The Holiday Sitter was included in the Top 15 Christmas Movies of 2022 in both Vanity Fair and Vogue and was nominated for a GLAAD Award (Outstanding Film, Streaming or TV) garnering wide media attention for its LGBTQIA+ representation.
Her recent directing credits include SURVIVING MY FATHER: THE RACHEL JEFFS STORY (Lifetime, 2025), HAUNTED HARMONY MYSTERIES (Hallmark, 2025), LOVE OF THE IRISH (Hallmark, 2024) and CHRISTMAS IN NOTTING HILL (Hallmark, 2023) all shot on location in Ireland and England.
Lieberts debut short film, THE QUIETING, a queer, genre-bending thriller, made its world premiere at Inside Out Toronto LGBTQ Film Festival (2020) and received an EDA Award nomination for "Best Female-Directed Short”. Her second short film, CALLS FROM A BRIDGE, shot on a virtual production stage, made its world premiere at Whistler Film Festival (2022).
Ali is a Green Card Holder and splits her time between Vancouver, Toronto and Los Angeles with her giant rescue puppy Sabzi Joon.
