Andrea is a writer-director who developed her career in Mexico. Her award-winning films (often self-referenced, character-driven, intimate dramas) have participated in numerous film festivals around the world. Her first feature, INSIGNIFICANT THINGS, was Executive Produced by Guillermo del Toro and participated in the Sundance Screenwriter's Lab as well as the IFP Director's Lab in Los Angeles under the mentorship of Rodrigo García (Nine Lives, Things You Can Tell Just By Looking at Her). It premiered at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. Her most recent feature, TARE, stars renowned Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta (Narcos, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) and is currently in post-production. Andrea recently leapt out of her comfort zone as film director in Mexico to delve into the world of television in Canada. She is currently developing the Mexico-Canada coproduction LABRANZA (recently short-listed for the TIFF-CBC Films Screenwriter’s Award) , as well as MOLECULES, her first venture in the world of series, about a group of disaffected high schoolers who find direction in a documentary workshop. She has also written the Romcom SMITTEN and the psychological thriller AN ACCIDENT. Andrea is an alumna of WIDC and a WIFT mentor.
