Ryan Couldrey
Ontario
Based out of Toronto, Ryan is a genre-loving director who's produced over a dozen short films, a cake baking web series that blends reality DIY Youtube with horror/sci-fi homage, and the feature film adaptation of the graphic novel 'Snow'. His films have played celebrated Canadian festivals like Canadian Film Fest, Toronto After Dark, and Blood in the Snow, as well as international festivals like Raindance, Reykjavik, and Salem Horror. In 2021 he shot 7 short films — the Ontario Arts Council funded 'The Whisper of Succulents' along with 6 zero-budget films in his 'Apartment 416' series. In 2022 he was invited to the Reykjavik International Film Festival's Talent Lab with his film 'The Whisper of Succulents' which was also nominated for the fest's Golden Egg award. His experience as a producer and editor greatly informs his directing, as he knows what it takes to get pages filmed on time and on budget while keeping the overall big picture in mind for when it's time to edit and deliver. He's currently in preproduction on several genre feature films, and will be editing the IPF-funded horror-comedy series 'It Doesn't Show' (Szaboteur Productions) slated to shoot in the latter half of 2023.
