Shelley Thompson

As a female actor for over 40 years, I have a strong empathy and understanding of actors, and love for their craft. As I writer, I bring a strong respect for the writers work to the the table. My years working in theatre - w a strong background in creation - means I bring commitment to collaboration and clear communication. As the mother of a trans man, I know how much inclusion and diversity matter - and just good old fashioned kindness and respect. 
I work to create a comfortable, creative, productive set and choose my team to make that easy.

Trained at RADA in the UK, the Women In The Directors Chair, the New York Writers Lab. Winner of Nova Scotia's high artistic honour in 2022 - the Masterworks Award for my first feature as writer/Director, Dawn, Her Dad & the Tractor - the story of a young trans woman returning to her rural home to make peace with her estranged father.
